The Rainbow Tour Part 3

Now we are back on the bus and headed to the Whirlpool Park in USA.  Which is the last stop on this tour.

This is where the rescue helicopter lands if you are fool enough to play by the whirlpool.  They will arrest you and give you a $10,000.00 fine.

Notice that someone decided to paint their names here.  Now honestly, I tried to see how they got down there.  Maybe it is the guys that fly the copter.  Probably not.  They say if you fall in the whirlpool it takes 4 days for you to surface.  Probably no need for a fine at that point.

"The direction and pattern of flow is dependant on the amount of water that flows into the Whirlpool from Niagara Falls. This flow is continually regulated by the hydro-electric power plants along the River, and when the sun is down, or the tourism season is over, the flow over the Falls and into the Whirlpool is drastically cut (by 50%), and the direction of the Whirlpool actually reverses"

Whirlpool flows counter clockwise, but changes to clockwise when the river flow drops at night.

After this, Lori returns us to our hotel by way of a few curb jumps.
And the Canadian Customs....we all had to get off the bus and show our passports to the lady and answer questions...like where do you live, how long do you want to stay in Canada and when you plan to leave.  It is quite intimidating actually.
We get back to our hotel at at 2pm.

From our hotel room window, as you can see the sun is shining!

It is very pretty with the sun.
So, now we are done with the tours and need lunch, so we go for a walk with my camera. We will finish out the day here, check out of our hotel tomorrow morning and go to the School of Horticulture Gardens then head back to the US by noon on Friday.

The garden in front of the Fallsview Casino Resort which houses lots of nice shops.  We eat at The Friken Bar, it was really good.  It was nice to eat and sit and relax.

I took pictures in the mall while Carol tasted "Ice Wine" in the wine store.  Yes, I tasted it too, it was good.

This is the front of the casino.  No we did not go in.

Then we walked around the area, it was really windy but warm.

Seriously?  You'd have to be nuts to do this.

This is the illumination site, where the pretty colors come from.

Nikola Tesla developed the world's first hydro electric power system.

Yep, we rode this...it is the Niagara Falls Incline Railway.
We go back to the Embassy Suites Hotel and spend the rest of the evening taking photos from our window and then watch Grey's Anatomy.

This is the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls.  176 feet high and 150,000 gallons of water per second.
The Bridal Veil Falls.
The Canadian Horseshoe Falls, height 167 feet and 600,000 gallons of water per second.

The "Niagara Falls" are the American Falls, the Bridal Veil Falls, and the Canadian Horseshoe Falls.
