Carol and I wake up at 5:30am...hey, old habits are hard to break even while on vacation!
We leave our Comfort Inn at 8am. Carol graciously slipped down to have whatever "free" breakfast is offered while I spend my time, as she put it, "turning from a cocoon into a butterfly", rrright...
At 9am we stop to take in the scenery at another park just outside of Erie PA.
So, back in the car again and to my surprise!
I had no idea that there were so many grapes grown in New York!
Concord grapes.
There seemed to be oceans and oceans of grapes...but no good spots to stop and take the photos of them that I wanted, so those snapshots are in our heads.
Lake Erie's vineyards along I90 supply the grapes for Welch's juices and jam products, plus there are lots of wineries.
We stopped at an Indian Reservation and bought some Concord grapes and an apple.
At around 10:30am, on Highway 5, Lakeshore Drive, we stopped at Dunkirk New York and took a walk and more photos...of course.
We drove into Niagara Falls in New York at about noon...what a circus. I back tracked driving out as fast as possible and regrouping at a Welcome Center where we booked two Grayline Tours and got proper directions to the Embassy Hotel in Canada.
We then attempted to cross over into Canada. That was a little bit of a chilling experience. Homeland Security on either side seem to take their jobs very seriously. They look at you and their eyes bore into your soul to see, I'm assuming, if they can read lies on the back of the inside of your scull. Heck, I felt guilty and I'm totally Innocent...well, you know what I mean.
We found our hotel, which was not ready for us, so we left the car and our luggage in their care and went for a walk, without my camera...got into our room at 3pm.
Room 3506 Fallview, yes, that is floor 35.
Our first Grayline Tour is called the Rainbow Illumination Tour and it starts at 4:30pm. We will be picked up in front of our hotel then...so we have a little time before to get settled and eat our lunch/dinner at Applebees just a long elevator ride down and a short walk away.
