So, as all great adventures, vacations, and road trips end....ours was winding down.
We left Morehead Kentucky at 8:30 am.
It was a cool but sunny day.
After 1650 miles, 600 photos and one tin of my famous chocolates we were back at Carol's home at 4pm and I at my home at 6:30pm.
As always, I want to thank Carol for being such a good traveling partner.....she does really well riding "shot gun" too....hardily ever screams out in terror at my driving..well, really never and I hope she never has too!
She was a great navigator on this trip, we really never planned anything...except staying in Canada for two nights.
I hope you have enjoyed sharing our road trip and I hope if anything, we have inspired you to grab your friend and make some memories of your own!!
Again, thank you Carol...and start thinking of where you want to go next year!!!
Rosemary and Carol's Road Trip to Niagara Falls October 2012.
Here we go again! Let's see what fun we can get into this year!!!

October 7, 2012, Sunday
We left Somerset Pennsylvania at 9am, it is a cool and cloudy day.
Leaves are beautiful in Pennsylvania. There are lots of pumpkins and firewood for sale along the roadways.
Pumpkin Fests seem to be the thing this weekend, some small, some big carnivals where they close the streets.
We travel through West Virginia, so many beautiful mountains but the leaves are not so colored yet, but still very pretty.
We are trying to stay on 2 lane road but in West Virginia they are so narrow and switch back a lot. We have to cross some rivers to get in the direction we are heading so there are some 4 lane interstates we must travel.
There is lots of industry along the Ohio River, coal...lots of coal.
No rain, but cloudy until about 3pm.
We spend the night in Morehead Kentucky, it is a college town.
After dinner at Penn Sub, we settled into our room and fell asleep watching...maybe 4 episodes of old Perry Mason. We love Perry, Della and Paul!

There he is sleeping with his back to the window..of course.
He seems to have some pretty good food.
This Phil was painted really well.
Nice paint!
We drove to Jamestown Pennsylvania and then to Sumerset PA where we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and enjoyed a really nice dinner at the Pine Grill.

October 6, 2012, Saturday Part 1
Leaving Bradford Pennsylvania and visiting the Marilla Reservoir
at 10am. We are in the Allegheny's.
Marilla is a Celtic term meaning "Shining Sea".
And now off to visit Punxsutawney Phil...by way of the National Scenic Byway"....that's where we saw the dead bear. Okay, it looked like a dead bear, but it was a dead deer by the side of the road.
Beautiful drive, just no where to pull off and take pictures..so those are all in our heads. Sorry, we can't share.

Oh look Carol, I think there are some photographers ahead on the trail.

Yes, there they are, I hope we don't get in their way.
And back to the car and off we go again. We stop at the Allegany Forest to take pictures and hopefully not feed the bears!
Ah...what?
